CS Alum Wins BotPrize

Rice CS alum, Igor Karpov (2003), was part of a team that won the 2K BotPrize. The 2K BotPrize challenged competitors to create more human-like computer-controlled bots for the game, Unreal Tournament 2004.

The team, UT^2, from the University of Texas at Austin, consisted of Professor Risto Mikkulainen, Jacob Schrum and Karpov. Mihai Polceanu, a doctoral student from Romania will share the prize with the UT team. Both teams' bots achieved a 52% humanness rating.
